GTSC alumni Jennie VanWagner has made the US Ski Team Development Team
WELCOME TO THE GRAND TRAVERSE SKI CLUB
A volunteer run non profit club dedicated to offering quality instructional ski and ski racing programs for kids aged 4-14 at an economical price. Developing good skiers and ski racers with a focus on fun and sportsmanship.
Check out all the GTSC alumni skiing in Austria with the Traverse City Central and West Coaches, Austin and Ed Johnson and Ted Lockwood No problems with lack of snow there. These kids will be ready for the upcoming ski season.
GTSC Alumni being home schooled by Ted and Austin in Europe. It looks like they just passed their mid term exams in slalom skiing and are not too worried about the lack of snow in Michigan.
Ryan, Clark and Lee decided to go out and teach the Austrians a little lesson in their first European FIS race.
Great job guys, against some of the best in the world.
Ted, Austin, Clark,Lee and Ryan at the National Junior Race in Austria. Best finishes were Ryan: 74/163 race 1, Lee 79/163 race 2 and Clark 88/153 race 2.
The new snow-making equipment at Hickory Hills is up and running! Thanks to our donors, over 100,000 gallons of water has been pumped through 5 snow-guns since midnight December 9th. This new system will nearly double the snow-making capacity at Hickory Hills. The expected opening date for Hickory is December 18th. Completed upgrades to the snow-making system include:
-A state-of-the art booster pump to increase the flow of water from the well (funded by Rotary -Charities and the Friends of Hickory Hills)
-A new snow-gun (#5) to increase the capacity of snow-making on the hills (funded by the Art and Mary Schmuckal Foundation)
-Upgraded electrical systems (equipment donated in part by KV Electric)
-Well Upgrades and new well pump, over 1500 feet of steel pipe, 5 new hydrants
-Future project elements include additional snow guns (3), a second booster station, and a second well
-A new pumphouse (funded by the City of Traverse City)

If you have not done so already please contact Stacy Aulicino @ stacauli@charter.net to confirm that your athlete is going to participate in this race. If your athlete cannot accept the invitation please indicate this as well so that we can extend your invite to the next athlete who qualified.
